Woodsman's Journal for No Mercy for Monsters

Image
I decided to pick up the game No Mercy for Monsters . Played my first set of trials, and recorded the results below. If I can keep my ADHD brain focused enough to keep coming back to it, I will post more entries on this blog so they will be available for others to read. Warning: this game deals with some significant trauma inducing concepts and not in what would be called a healthy way. Consider this your content warning. A note on the art: I don't love what I've produced so far. That said, I'm enjoying the process, and the concept I'm working through. The game No Mercy for Monsters is designed from the ground up to be about extreme absolutes. Black and White. Light and Dark. Good and Evil. So I thought the art I do for this experience should match that. So here's what I'm giving myself as limitations: Black and white only. 15 minutes or less per image. This is fast for me. Even for simple sketches, let alone in a process I'm not used to (more on that), b...

Strondin Greyspine

Image
Strondin Greyspine - Dwarven Bartender It was about two decades ago when Strondin came to town. He was bloody and beaten, and refused to tell anyone about what happened to him. Without a copper to his name, he was given treatment by Zayep of the Brotherhood of Olios. A few weeks later, and Strondin was getting by doing odd jobs around town for whatever folks would pay. A year later, and he purchased a tavern that was in rough shape and started work on it. Now, known as The Red Fern, his place and its owner are doing great. Roleplaying Strondin likes his own product just a little too much. Generally a light hearted and friendly soul, Strondin will only get grumpy if someone presses him about his past. As the evening (and drinks) wear on, he's been known to take his shirt off the "properly enjoy the night!" and show people his tattoos. By default, he will drop all friendliness from his demeanor and simply reply with "Let the past stay there." ...

Ameritage Review

The following is my first 'restaurant review'. It was done for Yelp and it was a 'first reviewer' which was fun. Problem was that the restaurant owner asked my friend (who was nice enough to invite me to the 'Friends and Family Only' event) to ask me to take it down. Dammit. So I'm saving it here for my own review. Okay - here it is (not so) fast and dirty: I should point out first that this restaurant isn't even open to the public yet. This was a "Friends and Family" night so they might get some feedback before opening day. This (I believe) had a lot to do with the minor issues we faced. Ambiance was really nice - though nothing too creative. I think that was a good thing though - I want a place's food to be good and for the place itself to sorta fade into the background. The wrought iron (looking) chandeliers were a nice touch though. We were greeted with "Hi - would you like to try some cheese?" It was of two varieties - Parme...

This is just a brief test post to see how I like the interface for posting here on my work blackberry. Doesn't seem bad at all.
